Introducing Music Therapy!

Wee Care Center, Inc and Imagine the Possibilities Music Therapy & Piano Studio, LLC, both of Wooster, are excited to announce a new partnership! On September 6, 2016, Imagine the Possibilities Music Therapy began offering therapeutically based music sessions for Wee Care students. Music sessions led by Kathy Odenkirk, MA, MT-BC, help children improve academic and social interaction skills, improve expression of emotion and speech skills, and kindergarten readiness skills. Children may participate in small or large groups as needed. Music therapy sessions are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday mornings with private sessions available for the public after Wee Care hours. Wee Care Center is a non-profit, Preschool and Extended Childcare Center. A secular mission of the First Presbyterian Church in Wooster and an United Way agency, Wee Care has been serving the community’s families and children since 1964. Wee Care Center is a Four Star Step Up to Quality Early Academic Center. Executive Kathy Wigal had been looking for a fresh and innovative way to serve the ever-changing needs of the community when the opportunity to partner with Imagine the Possibilities presented itself. “This is an amazing opportunity for Wee Care to share an incredible program with our community,” Mrs. Wigal says, smiling happily. Music is an integral part of a child’s early learning and is incorporated in every day curriculum in Early Childhood Education. Not only does music aid in memorization and literacy, it extends well beyond simple rhymes and rhythms. Music is used for focus, concentration, and relaxing the body and mind. Many children – and adults! – benefit from music therapy. Imagine the Possibilities Music Therapy is also offering to the public individual and group music therapy sessions and music classes at the Wee Care location.
